Maganoor Sarvamangalamma
Basappa Arts and Commerce College is the Constituent of the "Bapuji
Educational Association". which is the leading educational Institution
in Davangere. Many courses are offered from Nursery to Arts, Science,
Law, Pharmacy, Nursing, Computer and Management by this Association.
Besides, it offers professional courses like Engineering, Medical and
Dental at the undergraduate and the post graduate level. By imparting
varied knowledge, the Association has converted Davangere into a famous
educational center, which is now being called "the oxford of Karnataka".A
unique power behind this fame is Sri Shamanur Shivashankarappa, who
is a former member of Parliament, Sitting member of Karnataka State
Legislative Assembly and Honorary Secretary of the "Bapuji Educational
Association". There are more than 30 branches,
imparting education which are being run under the umbrella of the Bapuji
Educational Association, M.S.B. ARTS and COMMERCE COLLEGE is one among
them.
Sri Maganur Basappa, who lived in the second half of the 20th centaury,
was leading businessman, big industrialist, philanthropist, votary of
education, had a vision that Education would play a pivotal role for
the all round development of the nation. With the vision that imparting
quality education to young people would turn them into good citizens,
he founded M.S.B.ARTS and COMMERCE COLLEGE in memory of his better
half. Smt. Sarvamangalamma, by donating a huge sum of money generously.
The college, which was started in the year 1969 as an evening college,
has now been helpful for many employees, knowledge seekers, the poor
and the deprived. The college had to face a set-back when the institutes
of correspondence courses and open university education started functioning.
Consequently the college was converted into a day college in 1983.
It is a known fact that Humanities are looked down upon today. It is
due to the advent of Neo-Civilization. Which is the gift of modern science.
Development in Humanities is as important as development in modern science.
Therefore M.S.B. ARTS AND COMMERCE COLLEGE finds it necessary to make
the students study Arts subjects like: Economics, political science,
History, Sociology, Thereby, they are enabled to enrich the life that
has a heritage of its own. It is also the objective of the college to
give proper orientation regarding commerce to our pupils so as to make
them prepare for the global market and commerce. Giving the
touch of maturity to the fast changing life and creating young people
who are accountable and responsible, have been the aims of our M.S.B.
ARTS and COMMERCE COLLEGE.
Needless to say that an experienced teaching community of the college
has been striving a lot to reach the target, to accomplish what it intends
to do, academically and to manage quality education. In this regard
the students are enabled to make use of facilities available in the
college. Prayer for the evolution of mind, disciplined teaching, punctuality,
periodical tests, counseling-cum-evaluation, personality development
schemes and the ideal way to prepare the students for the examination
are facilities available in the college. The college always welcomes
the valuable suggestions both from the parents and the students.
